Manchester City set a new club record with a 2-1 win over Wolves on Sunday, extending their unbeaten run to 31 games—dating back to Dec. 6, 2023, when they were beaten 1-0 by Aston Villa.

Defenders helped Manchester City make club history as Josko Gvardiol and John Stones scored to lead a 2-1 comeback win over Wolves at the Molineux.

City trailed the Wolves in the early minutes of the game when Huge Bueno switched the ball out to the right wing, where Nelson Semedo brought it under control and swept up the pitch. He curled a lovely pass into the far side of the box, and Jorgen Strand Larson was waiting for a tap-in.

The undaunted visitors maintained their cool, pressing forward, and were rewarded with a Gvardiol equaliser in the 33rd minute.

The Pep Guardiola side, who top the lead in the Premier League table, were forced to a first-half draw at Molineux.

City looked like failing to capitalise on Arsenal’s loss at Bournemouth as they were being held after Jorgen Strand Larsen’s early opener for the dogged hosts was cancelled out by Josko Gvardiol.

However, Stones climbed highest in the fourth minute of added time to power home Phil Foden’s corner and spark wild scenes of celebration.

They were cut short when Bernardo Silva was penalised for offside while standing in front of custodian Jose Sa, much to the delight of the Molineux fans.

However, after reviewing the pitchside monitor, referee Chris Kavanagh determined that a backtracking Silva was not interfering with play and the goal remained.

City go back atop the table at the moment, their 20 points two more than Liverpool before the Reds kickoff versus Chelsea.

Wolves drop back into 20th with the loss, their one point and minus-13 goal differential one goal worse than Southampton.
