Manchester City and RB Leipzig have reached an agreement to sign defender Josko Gvardiol.
The Champions League winners are set to pay a €90 million fee, and the agreement does not include add-ons.
Gvardiol, 21, is expected to undergo a medical before his imminent trip to England.
He is unlikely to make his debut against Arsenal in the Community Shield at Wembley on Sunday, but he should be confirmed in time for City’s league opener against Burnley at Turf Moor on August 11.
Leipzig had initially valued Gvardiol at €100 million, which stymied talks earlier this summer.
The Croatian would have been the most expensive defender in the world if Leipzig’s value placed on him had been paid, but City’s negotiating sum is less than the £80 million Manchester United paid Leicester City for Harry Maguire in 2019.
After signing Mateo Kovacic from Chelsea, he will become Pep Guardiola’s second summer acquisition.
