Entertainment in Lagos is set to experience a major boost this December with the return of Mainland Laffs, a comedy show that offers a refreshing approach to family entertainment.

The event, which is set to take place at D’Podium International Event Centre, Aromire Avenue, Off Adeniyi Jones, Ikeja is being organized by Trevent Company, one of the fastest growing event solution companies in Lagos.

Speaking about the idea behind Mainland Laffs, the executive producer of the show, John Odiboh promised that Lagosians are in for an exciting evening with their rich lineup of top comedians, actors and musicians.

Odiboh said: “The Mainland Laffs has the usual attractions like standup comedy, pantomime comedy, musical performances, and stage drama. However, because of our resolve to make this a family delight, there will also be children performances, play courts for children, arcade games and even photo booths.”

He added that the USP of Mainland Laffs is clean entertainment. Hence it’s all about family entertainment as there is a need to bring back the days when families could come out together on Sunday afternoons and enjoy a comedy performance or entertainment evening together.

“We want to promote fun and entertainment, but in a healthy, wholesome way, that makes you happy yet in an instructive and safe way. So, we expect our guests to feel free to come with their children, nieces and nephews to enjoy that special family time out with good music, clean comedy/ music and loads of exciting games for the kids to enjoy,” he said.

Expected to entertain the audience with rib-cracking jokes are top Nigerian comedians like Josh2funny, Officer Woos, Ajebo, Ebute, Forever, Small Stout, Oniru and several others while Nollywood legends, Ayo Mogaji and Dele Odule, are also billed to make a special stage appearance in a one of its kind Pantomime comedy drama.

Also billed are a variety of children virtuoso performances to build the culture of the arts into our youths.

Speaking on the choice of Ikeja for Mainland Laffs, the Creative Director of The Trevent Company, Olumide Campbell, said that this was a strategic choice to address the cliché among Lagosians that Lekki and Victoria Island are the only destinations for premium events.

“This is why we picked a premium location that is a perfect fit for an event of this class, which is situated in the heart of the capital city of Lagos and also offers entertainment and convenience, from ample parking lot to high level security, serene environment, classy indoor aesthetics and lots more.

“With more events like this happening in Ikeja, there is really no need for residents of Ikorodu, Magodo, Iyana Ipaja, Isolo, Festac and other mainland neighborhoods to travel all the way to the island for premium entertainment.

“We are aware that in changing the narrative about what part of Lagos has the key to the best of entertainment, we will need a lot of media and brand support and we do hope that when corporate brands and our media friends see this event, they will agree that it is one that they should partner and support.”

Tickets for Mainland Laffs 2.0 are available on all major online event ticket stores as well as select locations across Lagos.
