Senator Ademola Adeleke, the Governor of Osun State, has placed a curfew on two communities, Ilobu and Ifon, following a communal confrontation over a land issue.
The curfew notification issued by the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Hon. Kolapo Alimi, is intended to maintain peace and order in the area.
Adeleke further ordered that the curfew be implemented immediately in the two affected local governments, Orolu and Irepodun.
The curfew will be in effect from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. every night.
According to the announcement, human and vehicular movement is prohibited under the curfew until further notice.
This is to prevent attempts to destroy lives and property during this period due to the land conflict.
Anyone spotted walking or moving around in Irepodun and Orolu local governments during the curfew period will be arrested and prosecuted accordingly, the government warns.
Adeleke called for peace between these two local governments, requesting that the state’s spirit of peace, love, and unity be instilled.
