The Lagos State Task Force on Environment and Special Offences Enforcement Unit stormed a narcotics hub in the Agbado-Oke-Odo LCDA of Alimosho Local Government Area.

During the raid conducted by CSP Adetayo Akerele on Saturday, the team was alleged to have captured 124 people accused of drug trafficking, abuse, and criminal activity.

Tokunbo Wahab, the state commissioner for the Ministry of Environment and Water Resources, confirmed this in a statement posted on X on Sunday.

The statement read, “Acting on credible intelligence received in the form of SOS, the Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences (Enforcement) Unit led by CSP Adetayo Akerele yesterday carried out a raid operation at a black spot at Amikanle area of Agbado-Oke-Odo LCDA in Alimosho LGA.

“124 suspected drug peddlers, abusers, and criminal elements were arrested.”

Wahab further stated that drugs thought to be Indian hemp, Colorado, and many bottles of codeine syrup were seized during the operation.

He added that the operation went beyond the narcotics bust, with the task force conducting a patrol in the region to address environmental concerns.

He added, “The operation was escalated into a visibility patrol across the metropolis, extending to CBD Alausa, where street traders constituting an environmental nuisance along NERD C road by Africa Shrine, Agidingbi, were sacked, suspects arrested, and all wares confiscated in line with the environmental sanitation law of Lagos State.”

During this portion of the operation, more quantities of Colorado leaves and compounds presumed to be Indian hemp were reportedly found.

Last Thursday, it was reported that the task force detained 114 people and seized 2,000 litres of diesel during a raid on Ikoyi black spots.
