Nigerian Afrobeats artist Oluwatobiloba Anidugbe, popularly known as Kizz Daniel, has revealed that his recent break from music was caused by the death of his mother earlier this year.
Daniel clarified that the pause was not due to him working on a new album.
The singer, who also goes by Vado D’Great, shared this on Friday while responding to a fan on X.
The fan, @VicroyDominion1, had posted, “I guess the album really made you busy; you had to pause for a while.”
Kizz Daniel responded, “I paused for my mom, not an album… Lost her this year, but I have to keep moving for the rest of the family… sorry I came late this year.”
Among those who reacted was Segun Thomas, who wrote, “May her soul rest in peace; mother’s love is the best.”
30bgsoldier wrote, “Sorry, brother, I accept my condolences. Brother, be strong; I really missed your sound.”

Another social media user, Tobi, shared a personal message, writing, “Sending love your way.” Big Vado, Mummy is sick; I pray I don’t lose her. She’s all I got. I dey imagine how you go dey feel omo love and light your way vadoo.”
Kizz Daniel, whose hits include “Woju” and “Buga,” has in the past opened up about personal losses, among them the passing of his father in 2015 and one of his triplets in 2021.
During a 2025 interview, the singer also revealed that his wife lost her mother in 2024, as he spoke about the personal losses that shaped his song “Al-Jannah.”
