The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has confirmed that results for candidates who sat the first day of the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) will be released before midnight on Friday.
In a statement issued by its Public Communication Adviser, Fabian Benjamin, the board said candidates who wrote the exam on Thursday, April 16, should expect access to their results once processing is completed later in the day.
“This is to inform all candidates who sat for the 2026 UTME on Thursday, 16th April 2026, that their results will be released today before midnight,” the statement said.
JAMB added that an official announcement would be made via its platform immediately the results are ready.
The 2026 UTME began nationwide on Thursday, with more than 2.2 million candidates expected to sit the exam across accredited Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres between April 16 and April 22.
The examination is conducted in multiple daily sessions to reduce congestion and strengthen verification processes across centres nationwide.
Candidates are advised to monitor JAMB’s official communication channels for updates and result access instructions.
Meanwhile, security concerns trailed the examination as gunmen reportedly abducted travellers including UTME candidates along the Makurdi-Otukpo route in Benue State.
Chronicle NG reported that the victims were said to be travelling in a Benue Links bus from Makurdi to Otukpo when the attack occurred on Wednesday night.
