Inter Milan defeated 10-man Sassuolo 5-0 on Sunday, increasing its Serie A lead to eight points above AC Milan, which did not play this weekend because of the Milan Cortina Olympics.

Inter’s first-half goals came from Yann Bisseck and Marcus Thuram.

Inter secured their fifth consecutive win in all competitions thanks to goals from Lautaro Martínez, Manuel Akanji, and Luis Henrique in the second half. Federico Dimarco contributed three assists.

Sassuolo had won two in a row after going seven games without a win. After Nemanja Matic received his second yellow card in the 54th minute, the team played with ten men. The hosts, who were in 11th place, only had one shot on goal.

Milan, in second position, was unable to host Como this weekend because the San Siro stadium was utilized for the Winter Games’ opening ceremony.

This issue caused Serie A to explore shifting the match to Perth, Australia. The game will now be played on February 18.

In other Serie A matches played on Sunday, Christian Ordóñez scored a stoppage-time winner as 14th-place Parma won at 10th-place Bologna, with both teams having a player sent off.

Bologna was down a man as Tommaso Pobega was sent off in the first half, while Mariano Troilo left Parma in the 79th minute.

It was Bologna’s fourth consecutive league loss. Parma hadn’t won four in a row.

Lecce, in 17th place and just above the relegation zone, snapped an eight-game losing drought by defeating ninth-place Udinese 2-1 at home, thanks to Lameck Banda’s 90th-minute goal.
