The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has explained how Nigerians can download their National Identification Number (NIN) slips online for free using the NINAuth mobile application.
The commission outlined the process in a video shared on its official X account, demonstrating how NIN holders can obtain their official identification slips without visiting an enrolment centre or paying third-party agents.
According to NIMC, Nigerians can download their NIN slips by following these steps:
- Download the NINAuth application from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
- Open the application on your mobile phone.
- Tap “Do More with NINAuth”.
- Select “NIN Slip” from the available options.
- Complete the facial authentication process to verify your identity.
After successful verification, users can select the “Download NIN Slip” option to generate and save their official identification document directly to their phones.
The commission described the service as convenient and secure, stressing that it is free and requires only a few steps.
“It is that simple, it is free, available, and a few taps away. Get yours today,” NIMC said.
The commission explained that the initiative was designed to make accessing NIN slips easier and reduce the need for physical visits to its offices.
NIMC launched the NINAuth platform in October 2025 to enable Nigerians to manage access to their personal identity information.
In June 2026, the commission announced that NIN holders could download their official slips through the application at no cost.
The downloaded slip is the official NIMC-issued document and can be presented at banks, government offices and other institutions where it is required.
