Bashir El-Rufai, the son of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, has cautioned President Bola Tinubu that the support of international organizations such as the IMF or World Bank does not guarantee immunity from being voted out of office by the people.
In a post on his X handle on Wednesday, Bashir cautioned that a significant shift could occur in the 2027 general elections without repercussions.
He urged people to disregard the ongoing intimidations and remain patient. Bashir emphasized that not even the IMF or the World Bank would be able to protect those in power when the time comes.
In a jibe purportedly directed at President Tinubu, Bashir remarked, “Political strategist una. That one na for Lagos.”
Bashir stated, “Nobody is too big to be elected out of office by the people. It will happen & wallahi nothing will happen. So forget all these intimidations flying up and down. Let us be patient. Even the IMF & World Bank no go save una that time. Political strategist una. That one na for Lagos.”
In a subsequent post, he clarified that he did not mention any specific names but maintained that no one could compel him to endorse what he described as a failure in governance masked by a hazardous, ethnocentric political strategy.
“I didn’t call names o, but due to their guilt, they already know who is being spoken about. Wallahi, none of you will force anyone to support this utter failure of governance disguised as useless, dangerous ethnocentric political strategy.”
It is noteworthy that during the 2023 presidential campaign, President Bola Tinubu was often referred to as a master strategist.
Meanwhile, Nasir El-Rufai has faced allegations of misappropriation of public funds during his tenure as Kaduna State governor.
