The Kano State Hisbah Board arrested 25 people for allegedly organizing same-sex marriages in the Hotoro area of Kano metropolis.
The Deputy Commander of the board, Mujahedeen Aminudeen, confirmed the arrests in a statement made available to Chronicle NG on Sunday.
The suspects, 18 males and 7 females, were apprehended at the Fatima Event Centre along Hotoro Bypass in Kano.
“Today, Saturday, 25th October 2025, we got a report that some people are allegedly organizing same-sex marriage.
“Our personnel stormed the Fatima Event Centre, the venue of the illegal event, and we successfully arrested 25 persons, 18 males and seven females,” he said.
He explained that the suspects, including the groom, were apprehended at the event center after traveling from Sheka, Yar Gaya, Kofar Nasarawa, and other locations.
The Deputy Commander of Hisbah cautioned that the board would not let undesirable elements ruin Kano State’s good image and reputation.
“We are calling on members of the public to support the board by reporting immoral activities in the state.
“The board will continue to raid such places that promote immorality,” Aminudeen added.
