The Bauchi State Police Command arrested a 16-year-old Fulani herder who raped a 17-year-old girl in the Toro Local Government Area of Bauchi State.

Disclosing this to newsmen in a statement released on Thursday, May 25, 2023, SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil said the suspect, Adamu Lawan, raped the victim while wielding a machete.

He said, “On May 6, 2022, at about 1820 hrs, one Fatima Abdullahi, 17 years old, of Miya-market Town, Toro LGA, accompanied by her parents of the same address, reported at Toro Divisional Police Headquarters that on the same date, at about 1600 hrs, the victim was on her way back from Kayara Hill, where she went to fetch firewood, when she was suddenly confronted by one Adamu Lawan, 16 years old, of Lere village via Tulu, Toro LGA, while rearing some cows. He halted her with a machete and forcefully had unlawful carnal knowledge of her on the spot,” the statement read.

“On receipt of the report, a team of detectives led by the DPO visited the scene and rushed the victim to General Hospital Toro for a medical examination, where the doctor confirmed penetration.

“The suspect was arrested and confessed to having committed the offence.” Meanwhile, the suspect will be charged in court on completion of the investigation.”

This sad development comes two days after a motorcyclist raped his passenger in Delta State.

Chronicle NG reported that the Delta State Police Command has apprehended Abdulahi Musa, a 34-year-old Okada rider who raped a 24-year-old lady.

The victim, a 24-year-old lady who arrived in Asaba from Benin that night, was reportedly raped anally by the suspect, whose motorcycle she boarded.

The suspect has, however, been arrested and is due to appear in court.
