Former Governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Ganduje, has been elected as the National Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC) by the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC).
Also elected was former Senate spokesman Ajibola Bashiru, who was elected as the National Secretary of the party.
The two party officials were elected today at the party’s 12th NEC meeting held at the Congress Hall of the Transcorp Hilton hotel in Abuja.
Following his emergence as the party’s leader, Ganduje thanked President Bola Tinubu and promised that internal democracy would prevail in the party during his tenure.
The former Kano Governor promised to ensure victory for the party in all forthcoming gubernatorial elections across the country and promised to hit the ground running.
Ganduje further pledged to ensure a scientific register of party members and also pay utmost attention to election management and conflict resolution.
Those in attendance at the NEC meeting include President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, members of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, and chieftains of the party in the National Assembly, amongst others.
Speaking at the meeting, Tinubu stated that the APC had won the 2023 Presidential election. He noted that it is now time to deliver on the campaign promises to the Nigerian People.
