#Fuelscarcity: Nigerians blast Buhari as fuel sells for N500 per litre

President Muhammadu Buhari of Nigeria has failed to deal with the fuel scarcity plaguing the west African country

Nigerians have taken to social media to express their displeasure and frustration at the lingering fuel scarcity that as engulfed the country for nearly two weeks.

As expected, President Muhammadu Buhari who doubles as the Petroleum Minister is the target, as is inactivity towards the issue have caused untold hardship on citizens.

Nigerians claim that they now purchase petrol for as high as N500 per litre against the regular price of N145 per litre.

Long queues and black markets have resurfaced in most part of the country, with no end in sight.

Taking to Twitter to express their frustration, some Nigerians recalled a tweet by the President prior to the 2015 general election.

Buhari was reacting to fuel scarcity under the watch of his predecessor, Goodluck Jonathan. Here’s what he wrote, “The countless man hours that will be spent at petrol stations today, will reduce our productivity as a nation. This should not be so. – GMB”

The countless man hours that will be spent at petrol stations today, will reduce our productivity as a nation. This should not be so. – GMB

    — Muhammadu Buhari (@MBuhari) March 2, 2015

But under his watch, he is yet to issue a similar statement, causing Nigerians to react to his inactivity on the matter.

Some even pointed out that Buhari found congratulating Wizkid and Davido over their music awards more important than commenting on the fuel crisis.

While Oluseun Onigbingbe who is based in Ibadan said he had to buy fuel at N500 per litre more than three times the pump price, other motorists have had to part with an extra N1,000 or N2,000 to buy petrol at very congested and sometimes stagnant fuel stations.

Here are some tweets from Twitter on the fuel situation in Nigeria.

    Dear President Muhammadu Buhari @MBuhari
Your tweet below says it all about your hypocritical stand. Your tears, words, tweets were never about Nigeria but about your need to come & enjoy the perks of power.
You have failed as the Minister of Petroleum & more so as the President https://t.co/8stWDNH4nP

Has Buhari "condemned" the fuel scarcity yet? Or does he think his job is to be congratulating WizKid & Davido? pic.twitter.com/RLis9RBvfQ

This is the 3rd fuel scarcity under Buhari in 2 1/2 years. First one was in Sept-December 2015. For 3 months Nigeria suffered but PMB didn't blink. Second one was in April/May 2016 which he cunningly increased fuel from N87 – N145 and now December 2017. Buhari and #fuelscarcity pic.twitter.com/hjw70oeshJ

If tomorrow is Election Day, will Buhari keep quiet on this fuel issue? Until we find a way to panic our leaders by threatening their entitlement to the grandeur of office, we can’t end this brothel arrangement. Really frustrated after buying fuel at N500 per litre in Ibadan.

    — Oluseun Onigbinde (@seunonigbinde) December 22, 2017

The best place to discuss politics is at the fueling station near you. If you want to defend Buhari, go there and take your beating . #Fuelscarcity

Never seen a more terrible Christmas than this, everywhere you go people are complaining, people can't buy rice, chicken and clothes for their kids. This is the worst time go be a Nigerian all thanks to Buhari.

    — Alabo Roland ???????? (@Roland_speaks) December 23, 2017

This Government is far worse than the previous one.
There's hardship in the country and yet no one says anything. They don't even regard us.
For the umpteenth time, I am ashamed of myself for campaigning & Voting for Buhari.
I hope we can use our heads well this time.

    — Ayo FBI (@PureMind__) December 22, 2017

The "i don't care" disposition of President Buhari to every damn situation this nation has have to deal with since May 29 2015 is more than enough reason to impeach him!

This is my opinion, feel free to have yours

    — Emmanuel Nwachukwu (@emma_dele) December 23, 2017

If the United States can just open its borders for Nigerians to come and visit for 6months and see how life and governance should be, Buhari won't survive the next minute. Our ignorance is because majority of Nigerians don't know what quality of life means!

I just bought fuel N300 after queuing for almost 4 hours ???? please if you still support Buhari kindly unfollow and block me cause you might find my next set of tweets offensive pic.twitter.com/7xWYPXBmt7

So, APC is comfortable to bring back Buhari in 2019, as in bring back a failure?

According to the report released by National Bureau of Statistics today.

A total number of 7.9 million Nigerians became unemployed btw Jan 2016 and Sept 30, 2017.#BuharisLegacy#BuhariMustDebate pic.twitter.com/KACS8rT4ks

If you watch President Muhammadu Buhari's achievement DVD at exactly 23:59 on New Year's Eve it will finish before the New Year. ???????? pic.twitter.com/EIBayz6F6y

    — Prince 'Yemi Adebowale (@yemi_adebowale) December 22, 2017

Buhari has demonstrated several times that personal integrity is not enough to make good leadership.

At times like this I'm tempted like many of you to say come and go in 2019 but always stop to ask, come and go for who realistically?

It's insensitive for Buhari to be quiet now

    — SoulJah (@jeffphilips1) December 22, 2017

What Buhari/APC promised vs what they delivered.

    Jobs
    Promised: 3m
    Delivered: -7.9m
