    Family appeals for help as 14-year-old battles bone cancer

    The family of Obadina Folawe Azeem, a 14-year-old boy, has launched an urgent public appeal for financial assistance to enable him undergo life-saving treatment after being diagnosed with osteosarcoma, a malignant bone cancer.

    According to medical reports from Matrix Orthopaedic Hospital, Folawe was diagnosed with a primary malignant bone tumour and requires immediate surgical intervention followed by chemotherapy to prevent the spread of the disease.

    Doctors estimate the cost of surgery at ₦10 million, while chemotherapy will require an additional ₦4 million, bringing the total cost of treatment to ₦14 million.

    The family disclosed that despite efforts to raise funds, only ₦2,125,700 has been secured so far, leaving a shortfall of ₦11,874,300.

    Speaking on behalf of the family, Folawe’s mother, Sholola Islamiat, said the situation has been overwhelming and time is critical.

    “My son is fighting for his life. We are appealing to kind-hearted Nigerians and organisations to help us raise the remaining funds so he can receive urgent treatment,” she said.
