Nollywood actress Funke Akindele’s new movie, ‘Everybody Loves Jenifa,’ premieres in cinemas today, Friday.

The movie plot revealed how Jenifa’s popularity fades when a shady new neighbor, Lobster, outshines her charitable work.  A deadly drug baron confronts Jenifa and her friends in Ghana after they mistakenly leave a bag of drugs in their rental property.

Chronicle NG reports that the 2-hour, 15-minute TV movie “Everybody Loves Jenifa” promises its viewers and fans an entertaining drama.

‘Everybody Loves Jenifa’ has been acquired for theatrical distribution across six continents.

While FilmOne Entertainment retains its rights to distribute the movie locally, Nile Media has acquired the rights to distribute the film internationally.

In an official announcement on Instagram, the media distribution and production company unveiled the cinema dates for the film.

“Nile Media Entertainment proudly announces international theatrical distribution for @funkejenifaakindele’s Everybody Loves Jenifa, the first Nigerian film to be released in 30 countries across 6 continents,” the post said.

There is an exclusive UK premiere at Odeon Cinemas, Greenwich, on December 20, 2024. Other countries include Italy, Ireland, Germany, Spain, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Belgium, and Canada.

Akindele urged fans and viewers not to record her movie while watching it in the cinema.

“Don’t be scared; I’m fine. If you go to see my new movie and you bring out your phone or any device you have to film, then that won’t be fine,” she said in the video.

“I know you’ve got mad love for me as my fan; I know you respect me; I know you support me, and you want to promote ‘Everybody Loves Jenifa,’ but you’re filming it is not you supporting me.”

The actress urged her fans to support her by going to the cinemas to view her movie, take pictures by the stand, and post the trailers, among other things.

“No! You uploading it on your social media accounts is not support. Don’t bring out your phones. If you want to support me, get to the cinemas, take pictures by the stands, and post my trailers, the teasers of the movie, and I’ll be fine. Because the act of you filming it on the screen is piracy. YES,” Akindele said.

“We must not encourage piracy. We are taking serious security measures to arrest anyone who does that. I love my fans so much, but please don’t be caught doing it because it’s affecting us; it’s killing us. It’s not helping the brand. We need to grow more than this. We spent a lot of money on that project”.
