EPL: Manchester United earn 3-2 win against Fulham

Benjamin Sesko scored a stoppage-time winner as Manchester United made it three wins in a row under Michael Carrick in a Premier League thriller with Fulham.

United appeared to be on their way to triumph when Brazilians Casemiro and Matheus Cunha put them ahead twice before halftime.

However, five minutes later, Raul Jimenez equalized with a superb penalty into the roof of the home net, and Kevin appeared to have grabbed a point with a thundering strike to the top corner.

However, in nine minutes of additional time, primarily due to two lengthy VAR checks that resulted in United’s penalty being overturned and Fulham’s goal being disallowed, Sesko connected with a Bruno Fernandes ball and hammered a shot into the top corner.

It took Ruben Amorim 36 Premier League games to win three in a row as United manager, his only such streak.

Carrick has only taken three shots and was serenaded by the home crowd as his team returned to the Premier League’s top four.

Casemiro put the hosts ahead following a peculiar sequence of play. Referee John Brooks initially awarded the home side a penalty for a Jorge Cuenca foul on Cunha. However, VAR James Bell overruled it since the final collision occurred outside the area.

Bruno Fernandes floated the free kick to the far post, where Casemiro headed home.

Eleven minutes after halftime, Casemiro turned provider, threading a pass through the Fulham defenders to Cunha, who scored United’s second goal.

However, the ramifications of the original VAR check—and the one that ruled out Jorge Cuenca’s second-half shot, which took so long that both sets of supporters yelled against the system and upset Cottagers manager Marco Silva—were still to be completely felt.

Jimenez dragged out his penalty after being upended by Harry Maguire, but he eventually fired it into the roof of the net.

There remained nine minutes of injury time, so as Fulham celebrated Kevin’s brutal strike, Carrick and his teammates knew they still had time to answer.

Sesko remained composed as he controlled Fernandes’ cross and spun in the area before capitalizing on Fulham’s inability to get to him quickly enough.
