The National Working Committee (NWC) of All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed delight over the defection of the governor of Akwa Ibom state, Umo Eno, to the party.

Eno had earlier on Friday announced his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC, citing the need to connect Akwa Ibom to the government at the centre, among others reasons.

Reacting to the development, the ruling APC, through its national publicity secretary, Felix Morka, said the ruling party was confident that his thoughtful decision will enhance the greater progress of Akwa Ibom State and people.

Chronicle NG reports that the party assured Eno of its fullest cooperation and accommodation in the APC family, as it continues to grow the party and work together towards the full realisation of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu, for the good and benefit of all Nigerians.

On April 29, Eno hinted at a possible defection ahead of the 2027 general election as he likened the PDP to a faulty aircraft.

He said the decision followed “three months of wide consultation” with critical stakeholders across the state.
