The England national team has been robbed off its valuables ahead of its opening 2026 World Cup clash against Croatia.
The team’s sporting equipment was sold in Kansas, USA, by yet-to-be-identified individuals on Friday.
This was announced by sport journalist Fabrizio Romano in a statement on X on Saturday.
According to Romano, players lost their boots, training gear, coaching staff equipment, balls, and match day uniforms, which were stolen from the English team’s van.
He also disclosed that the England camp is working in conjunction with the police to recover the stolen equipment or to secure replacements.
“England hit by setback as large amount of team equipment was stolen in Kansas City ahead of their World Cup opener, shocking story,” Romano wrote.
“Players’ boots, training gear, coaching staff equipment, balls, and match-day uniforms are understood to be among the missing items stolen from England’s van,” he added.
“The England camp is now working alongside local police to recover the stolen equipment or secure replacements in time for training to continue as scheduled,” Romano added.
The local police have confirmed that two suspects have been arrested in connection to the crime.
“Two subjects of interest have been taken into custody tonight pending further investigation,” the police noted.
The star-studded Tuchel team will begin their World Cup campaign against Croatia on Wednesday, 17 June, 2026.
