Social media commentator Reno Omokri has described former governor of Kaduna State Mallam Nasir El-Rufai as someone who has a ”penchant for lying.”

Omokri made the remark while responding to claims made by El-Rufai over his refusal to serve in the cabinet of President, Bola Tinubu.

The former governor, a prominent member of the ruling All Progressives Congress, has recently made headlines for criticising the party for lacking active party structures and internal democracy.

“I no longer recognise the APC. No party organ has met in two years—no caucus, no NEC, nothing. You don’t even know if it is a one-man show; it’s a zero-man show,” El-Rufai said at a national conference in Abuja on strengthening democracy in Nigeria on Monday.

In a series of statements on his X page on Thursday, El-Rufai mentioned that he had no interest in serving in the President Bola Tinubu-led administration.

However, in his reaction to El-Rufai’s statement on Thursday, Omokri lambasted the APC chieftain, whom he described as ”a short man” who has a penchant for lying.

He mentioned that despite his claims, El-Rufai submitted himself to be a minister under the Tinubu-led cabinet.

”This Nasir el-Rufai thinks we are all children. You claim not to be interested in being a minister, yet you submitted yourself for ministerial screening,” Omokri said.

”It is like saying you are not interested in free food, yet you visited my house with a spoon in your pocket. The short man should not leave us short of words!

”No wonder Obasanjo, his boss, said this about him: “My vivid recollection of him is a penchant for lying, for unfair embellishment of stories, and his inability to sustain loyalty for long.

”I have heard of how he ruthlessly savaged the reputation of his uncle, a man who was like, in the African setting, his foster father. I shuddered when I heard the story of what he did to his half-brother in the Air Force, who is senior to him in age.”

”Chief Olusegun Obasanjo’s assessment of Nasir El-Rufai from pages 412-413 of his book, My Watch Volume 2: Digital version,” Omokri added.
