According to his neighbours, the boy committed suicide after having a fallout with his grandmother.

A neighbour who spoke on the condition of anonymity said the boy ended his life after his grandmother accused him of stealing rice from the house.

”His grandmother threatened to return him to the village after she accused him of stealing half mudu of rice.”

The neighbour also stated that the grandmother insisted on returning Dung to the village despite his pleas for forgiveness.

At the time of filing this report in the late hours of Monday, the corpse of the teenager is still hanging on the tree.

It was gathered that operatives of the Nigerian police and the Red Cross, who visited the scene of the incident, said they would come in the early hours of Tuesday to remove the corpse.
