A 4-year-old boy has reportedly lost his life after being mauled to death by his father’s berserk Rottweiler pet dog in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

The sad incident, according to a lady simply identified as Juwex , happened on Monday, July 17, 2023.

She stated that the victim’s father had released two of his dogs to protect his kids in the compound as he went out to work.

Revealing the incident on Twitter, she said, “My friend’s dog( Rottweiler) killed her toddler this morning. I am not ok.

“This happened yesterday in my area. The boy’s father was on his way to work when he received a call that one of his dogs had mauled his son to death”.

According to the father of the deceased, because the five dogs were highly familiar with his children, he only let out two to guard the compound. He remarked that his four-year-old son always put the dogs in their cages, so he had no idea that something like this might happen.

When he returned home, he encountered his son dead in the pool of his blood. He was told that if it hadn’t been for the quick action of neighbors who killed the dog, the dog would have also mauled the boy’s sister.

It was also gathered that the veterinary doctor had advised them to sell or kill the dogs. Stating that some dogs develop mental issues after five years.
