The Delta State Government has ordered security operatives to “track down and prosecute” those responsible for the attack on one Simon Mudi, alias Temple, a protocol aide to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, during last Sunday’s Delta Central APC Stakeholders’ meeting held at the Petroleum Training Institute, Effurun, in the Uvwie Local Government Area of the state.

The Delta State Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, disclosed this in a signed statement issued on Tuesday, copies of which were made available to Yin in Warri on Wednesday.

The Delta State government described the attack as “unacceptable and a threat to public peace.”

The state administration was “disturbed by videos of the incident circulating on social media, particularly the brutal assault on one Simon Mudi, alias Temple, who is a protocol aide to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori,” according to Aniagwu.

Temple sustained potentially fatal injuries after being repeatedly attacked by armed youngsters in the widely shared recordings of the altercation.

Additionally, it was reported that Comrade Reuben Izeze, the state commissioner for works (urban/highways), was also assaulted during the altercation.

Aniagwu warned that those responsible for the incident would face the full force of the law and emphasized that the Oborevwori administration would not accept violence or lawlessness under any pretense.

He declared, “Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has directed security agencies to identify, arrest, and prosecute all those involved in the incident.

“The reported acts of violence, particularly the cruel attack on Simon Mudi, are unacceptable and have no place in our society.”

He reiterated the state’s commitment to upholding peace, law, and order, stating that no one, regardless of status or identity, would be permitted to enforce the law on their own. In the meantime, the state government has asked citizens to maintain composure and obey the law while security agencies look into the incident.
