2027: Atiku vows to step aside if beaten by young candidate in ADC
Former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar
    Facebook Twitter WhatsApp

A Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential aspirant, Atiku Abubakar, has deleted a tweet that condemned the heinous killing of Deborah Samuel by her colleagues who accused her of blasphemy.

The former Vice President reacted to the gruesome murder of Deborah, a Christian who was accused of blasphemy against Prophet Mohammed in a WhatsApp group.

Condemning the action, Atiku wrote, “There can not be a justification for such gruesome murder. Deborah Yakubu was murdered, and all those behind her death must be brought to justice. My condolences to her family and friends,” he wrote.

His tweet was however met by stiff anger from Muslim fanatics, many of whom vowed not to vote for him in the 2023 presidential election if he emerges the PDP candidate.

In reply to Atiku, Yunus Boska wrote, “We are not together here. Dama bakayi magana Ba loosely translated to “You should have not said anything.”

Similarly, Mubarak Yusuf Zangina wrote, “Wallahi, you lose my vote.”

Mubarak Dalhatu simply wrote, “You lost my vote.”

Atiku Abubakar wrote on his Facebook page

Al-Ameen Muhammad shared similar sentiments. “Wallahi zaka sa mu tsane ka fa, tohm inma kuri’a kake nema” loosely translating to, “you have lost my vote”

Chronicle NG reports that most of the comments that followed the tweet caused Atiku to delete the tweet and post a rejoinder.

Writing on his Hausa Facebook page, Atiku said, “This evening I received information that a post was made that doesn’t agree with my orders. I use this to announce that any post without AA is not from me. May God protect – AA.”

There are others who believe that if Atiku’s emerges as the PDP candidate he will not protect Christians in Nigeria following his U-turn on the condemnation of the killing of Deborah.
