Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi state has declared his intentions to run for the 2023 presidency on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Umahi declared his intentions after a closed door meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the State House in Abuja on Tuesday.

His declarations comes one day after the national leader of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu declared his 2023 ambitions.

Umahi defected to the APC from the Peoples Democratic Party in November 2020.

Ebonyi APC says it is optimistic that Umahi will emerge the party’s candidate for the 2023 presidency.

    • My people have no land for ranching – Umahi

“No doubt that Gov Umahi is a hero. With the spirit that he developed Ebonyi State within six years, Nigeria will definitely experience Midas touch and become a center of world attraction if he emerges the President of our dear country,” Ebonyi APC said in a statement.

Adding that, “The official information of his intention to contest the presidential election to Mr President is a step in the right direction, and we commend him very highly.

“The APC, Ebonyi State rejoices with him, and we reiterate our unflinching support, loyalty and partnership at all times to ensure that his dreams come through.

“Your Excellency, you are the man Nigerians have been waiting for. Thank you for offering yourself, thank you for answering the clarion call, thank you for standing for Ndi Igbo.”
