The Aliko Dangote Foundation has donated 80,000 bags of 10-kg rice to help disadvantaged communities in Lagos State.

Jubril Gawat, the Lagos State Governor’s Special Adviser on New Media, made the announcement on his X account on Wednesday.

According to Gawat, the foundation made the donation at a ceremony held on Wednesday at the Lagos House in Ikeja.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Aliko Dangote, and Femi Otedola, Chairman of First Bank of Nigeria Holdings Plc, attended the ceremony.

Gawat’s caption read, “Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Jidesanwoolu, the founder and Chairman of Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote and Chairman, First Bank of Nigeria Holdings Plc, Mr. Femi Otedola #realFemiOtedola, at the Banquet Hall, Lagos House, Ikeja, for the rice distribution flag-off through the Foundation.

“The foundation is distributing 80,000 10-kg bags of rice to the vulnerable communities across the state.”

Chronicle NG reported on Monday that the foundation spent about N15bn on a food intervention programme with beneficiaries across Nigeria.

His foundation’s food intervention plan, which began on Saturday in Kano State, would deliver over one million bags of 10 kg of rice to the 774 local government areas of the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
