Lisha Dachor, 19, a Nigerian nail painter from Plateau State, has completed her effort to create a new Guinness World Record for the longest nail painting marathon by an individual.

Dachor painted almost 4,000 artificial nails in 72 hours at the event, called a “nail-a-thon,” according to reports.

In a post on her Facebook page on Thursday, Dachor wrote, “Breaking barriers and setting records! I am honoured to have set a new milestone in the world of nail art with the longest marathon painting of artificial nails by an individual. Grateful for the journey and the incredible support.”

Dachor stated on April 25 that she would participate in the challenge from April 28 to May 1 at Odilin’s Event Centre, located behind the National Library in Jos, the capital of Plateau State.

She also indicated that free bus transportation to and from the location would be provided for guests.

Dachor told the BBC that she wants to use her record attempt to cast a positive light on Plateau State.

“People judge the plateau by its cover. Apart from the ethnic issues we have, Plateau is a beautiful place. I got support from all ethnic groups while I embarked on this attempt,” she said.

She was also said to have taken on the job of changing the narrative regarding teenage mothers like herself.

“I want to give people hope, especially single mothers, because many people don’t think we have anything to offer,” she told the BBC.

After the event, Dachor awaits the Guinness World Records review of her attempt, which will be based on evidence documenting her marathon nail painting session.

The culmination of the “nail-a-thon” was welcomed with jubilation and commendation from a variety of people, particularly netizens.

Plateau State Governor Caleb Muftwang also used his X.com handle to express his admiration for Dachor’s “record-breaking spirit.”

“I proudly join in celebrating Lisha Seleme Dachor’s record-breaking spirit as a young talent from Plateau State in her Guinness World Record attempt for the longest nail art marathon. Your determination aligns with my administration’s policy objectives for the youth and inspires us all,” he wrote.
