President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday warned Nigerians of a possible second wave of the coronavirus pandemic.
Buhari noted that the second wave trend across the world is a pointer that Nigeria could experience the same thing if it caution is thrown into the wind.
“Looking at the trends in the other countries, we must do all we can to avert a second wave of Covid-19 in Nigeria.
“We must make sure that our cases, which have gone down, do not rise again. Our economy is too fragile to bear another round of lockdown,” President Buhari said in a tweet.
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Wednesday announced 147 new coronavirus cases.
The Centre for Disease Control warned that Nigeria could experience a second wave if guidelines are ignored.
Since the outbreak of the virus in February, Nigeria has recorded 62,371 confirmed coronavirus cases, with 58,095 patients discharged and 1,139 dead.
