Singer Yemi Alade has continued to condemn the Lagos State Government over the demolition of houses in the state.

The ‘Johnny’ crooner has called on the state government to start refunding legal buyers.

Chronicle reported that Yemi Alade said the government was making life more difficult for citizens by rendering them homeless overnight.

In a series of posts on her official X handle, Yemi Alade stated this on Monday.

“Thank you for giving me and millions of others a reason not to invest in Lagos real estate, @followlasg.

Maybe when you are done turning the whole of Lagos into a network of roads with no residents, your megacity dreams will be complete. “Please at least start refunding legal buyers.”

“Just imagine witnessing a tragedy, or even worse, being a victim, and having people who were not present debunk your claims. Karma dey boomerang , no worry!!! Na, turn by turn.”

“Send notices directly to the residents!” Put it in the news! Showing up like santa Claus and issuing two hours of notice is trauma unleashed for undeserving citizens. They are not the developers, and yes, the developer has also failed residents.”

“Why and how was the building approved in the first place? @followlasg, Yemi Alade queried.

“Why and how was the building plan of Mende Villa 1 approved in the first place!? @followlasg

Yemi Alade added, “You have commissioned several building plans in conjunction with Legrande and gained the trust of many. Why dash it all with this one blow? 2 hours notice is trivial!”

Meanwhile, the Lagos State Commissioner of Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, has explained the reason for the ongoing demolition of houses in Mende, Maryland, and other parts of the state.

The Lagos state commissioner said, the houses being demolished were built on drainage channels.

Wahab wrote on his X handle: “We also visited Mende Villa, Maryland, where the developer initially claimed there was a drainage approval on the property. The directors, who were aware of what transpired at the time, were invited to speak on the issue but confirmed that the developer was given temporary and conditional approval to leave a 20-metre setback from the edge of System 1, but he encroached on the setback, thereby obstructing the flow of rainwater.

“However, by the magnanimity of Governor @jidesanwoolu, the ROW was approved to be reduced to 100 metres from 140 and spread on a 60/40 basis ( 60 Mende/40 Ogudu) instead of the initial 140 sitting on the Mende side. The instruction to immediately continue the removal of all structures on the alignment has been given to the enforcement team after the first notice to remove was served on them in 2021, and the last notice was served in November 2023 after the meeting with the stakeholders.”
