Nigerian telecommunications company Globacom has won the 2023 Champions Newspapers Telecommunications Company of the Year Award.
According to a press release, the telecom giant won the award at Champion Newspapers Limited’s annual awards ceremony in Lagos.
It stated, “The honour reinforces Globacom’s position as Nigeria’s most innovative telecoms operator focused on providing affordable tools of communication that will transform lives and businesses.”
Dr. Nwadiuto Iheakanwa, Managing Director of Champion Newspapers, described the purpose of the awards ceremony during her welcome remarks.
She said, “All we strive to do is recognise excellence and hard work to agitate our minds into doing more good.
“For Nigeria to get better and bigger, we will need more of this calibre of people and institutions who we set out to honour this evening because they constitute an integral part of the best.”
Mr. Kelvin Egerue, Managing Editor of Champion, stated that Globacom had made significant sacrifices to make telecom services available to Nigerians at the most inexpensive prices.
“Nigerians will forever be proud to note that Globacom is always there to ensure they are not exploited,“ he said.
