The fire that engulfed a section of Dangote refinery has been contained, a terse statement by the private refinery on Wednesday said.
Chronicle NG had reported that the fire outbreak at the refinery occurred at its effluent treatment plant early Wednesday.
A statement by Anthony Chiejina, group chief branding and communications officer for Dangote Industries Limited reads, “We have swiftly contained a minor fire incident at our effluent treatment plant (ETP), today Wednesday 26th of June.
“There is no cause for alarm as the refinery is operating and there is no recorded injury or body harm to any of our staff on duty.
Dangote Refinery is an oil refinery owned by the Dangote Group. It opened on May 22, 2023, in Lekki, Nigeria. When fully operational, it is estimated to be capable of processing approximately 650,000 barrels of crude oil per day, making it the world’s largest single-train refinery.
