Brighton has finalized a club-record £46m agreement with Tottenham Hotspur for Croatian defender Luka Vuskovic.
Brighton’s attempts to acquire Vuskovic were rejected twice last month.
They have now come to a consensus regarding a transfer that may also include possible extra payments, potentially raising the total fee to £50m.
The 19-year-old is set to undergo a medical examination after Croatia’s World Cup journey concludes.
They compete against Portugal in a round of 32 match in the early hours of Friday morning UK time.
Born in Split, Vuskovic progressed through the academy at the local club Hajduk, becoming the youngest player to appear in Croatia’s top league at the age of 16—later becoming his club’s youngest scorer.
He reached an agreement with Tottenham in September 2023 that brought him to the club in 2025.
Despite not having debuted for Spurs, Vuskovic made 30 appearances on loan at German club Hamburg last season, netting six goals in the Bundesliga, and has emerged as one of the top young central defenders in Europe.
He will take Jan Paul van Hecke’s place in Fabian Hurzeler’s team.
Ironically, Van Hecke is heading the other way after Tottenham consented to pay £52m for the Dutch international, who had one year remaining on his Brighton deal.
