    Senate President Ahmed Lawan has adjourned sitting for two weeks
    Senate President Ahmed Lawan has adjourned sitting for two weeks

    The Nigerian Senate has adjourned for two weeks, hours after it began sitting for the ninth session on Thursday.

    Before the adjournment, the Senate set up seat and office allocation adhoc committee.

    Senate President Ahmed Lawan was presiding over the upper chamber for the first time since his election 11 June.

    Senator Lawan had earlier sworn-in Rochas Okorocha as a senator after he received his Certificate of Return from the Independent National Electoral Commission.

    Clerk to the Senate, Nelson Ayewoh, conducted the swearing-in after which Okorocha signed necessary documents.
