Nigerian politician and activist Aisha Yesufu has berated the sentencing of Nigerian crossdresser Okuneye Idris Olarewaju, popularly called Bobrisky, by a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos.

Chronicle NG reports that Justice Abimbola Awogboro sentenced the crossdresser to six-month imprisonment without the option of a fine for naira abuse.

Reacting to the judgement, Yesufu noted that if Bobrisky is prosecuted for spraying the naira, other people who are guilty of such should be prosecuted too.

Her statement comes after several videos have shown celebrities and politicians spraying the naira at parties without being prosecuted.

Describing the sentencing of the crossdresser as “injustice,” Yesufu said, “Many are happy when injustice is meted out to those they do not like or do not like their choices.

“They at that time forgot that injustice to one is injustice to all!

“If you are prosecuting Bobrisky for spraying money, then everyone should be prosecuted. Selective prosecution is injustice!”

Prior to the statement, Yesufu mentioned, “Mutilation and spraying money—are they the same? Did Bobrisky pick a pair of scissors and start shredding the naira?

“We just have a jungle where anything goes because some people’s morality is offended.

“If Bobrisky has crimes he has committed, prosecute him on those and not these selective prosecutions.”
