    Nigerians have criticised Sen. Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, the founder of Baze University and the vice presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 presidential election, over the graduation of his daughter from a foreign university.

    Baba-Ahmed, Peter Obi’s running mate, attended the graduation of his daughter from the University of Reading, UK, pictures making the rounds on social media reveal.

    However, Nigerians berated the former lawmaker over the graduation of his daughter from a foreign university, with many questioning his faith in Baze University, which he owns.

    Many berated him for having zero faith in the educational system of the country and for allegedly building a substandard school.

    “Baba-Ahmed knows that his university is a substandard one only meant to take advantage of the educational gap in the country and dupe citizens off their hard-earned money,” a social media user stated.

    Another social media user, simply identified as Abcone, argues that “Baba-Ahmed does not trust his product; hence, he needs to buy from a trusted source. The truth of the matter is that anything foreign has become a tool to show class in this country; if you haven’t travelled abroad, some don’t consider you successful if you don’t wear foreign things, etc.”

    “If your own children can’t consume the food you cook; the same people campaigning for patronising local products and services can’t even enrol their own children in local education,” AK Adesina opined.

    “I really do not understand the reasoning behind it. I believe he has doubts about his university certificate,” Otumba mentioned in a statement on X.

    While Rilwan Ola called on the Federal Government to shut down Baze University, he described Baba-Ahmed’s lack of faith in his Nigerian-based school as “insensitive.”

    “My opinion is that maybe FG should withdraw the license of Baze University if possible, because if the owner does not have confidence in the quality of education at his own school, then Nigerians should not be victims of Baze’s low education quality. A very insensitive picture,” Ola stated.

    Other reactions to Baba-Ahmed’s daughter’s graduation from a UK university include;

    Olanrewaju-buoro Jide “He charges so much for poor facilities, especially accommodations, so the daughter cannot suffer with our children.”

    Chidiebube says, “His university is not good enough for his daughter but is excellent for other Nigerians.”

    Mallam Naini Musa, “This is tantamount to Dangote consuming BUA’s spaghetti or A.A. Rano buying fuel at Shema filling station. You don’t consume your product; why should I?”

    Agi, “His own just graduated now; don’t forget that other leaders in the past have done the same, so go back and start asking other past leaders why; then, when you are done, you can come back and talk about Ahmed Datti; you might now get the answer probably from the results of others.”

    Arams Abdul, “If you guys don’t know, Baba Ahmed is worse than all Nigerian politicians.”

    Kabir Usman Misali, “It’s akin to how some headmasters or principals refuse to send their children and wards to their schools to avoid being cuddled up and given special favours by teachers.”

    Quincy Savalake, “So what stopped this Crusader’s daughter from graduating from Baze University now? Or is Baze not good enough for her like it is good enough for the others?”

    Egba-Egbado Man, “The proposed ill-planned protest should start at his school with his customers. How can your own children not believe in your own products?”
