Godwin Obaseki, the governor of Edo State, has authorized a new N70,000 minimum wage for the state’s civil servants.  Obaseki stated this while commissioning Edo State’s new Labour House on Monday. According to him, the new wage will go into effect on May 1st, 2024. The former governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, has condemned the attack by suspected herdsmen in the Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area of Enugu State.  Obi, who described the attack as “disturbing,” lamented that the people of the community have continually faced terror at the hands of suspected herders. According to a news report, the Nimbo community in the Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area of Enugu State came under attack by suspected Fulani herdsmen. The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and Labour Party (LP) have thrown their support behind a proposed bill that would prohibit politicians accused of tax cheating from standing for electoral office in the country. The support for the bill follows Friday’s declaration by Taiwo Oyedele, Chairman of the Presidential Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms Committee, that the executive bill will be enacted in the National Assembly.
