NLC TUC: Organized labour said its national minimum wage negotiation would be base on the current economic reality

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) withdrew from the ongoing minimum wage negotiations after the government and the organised private sector offered “ridiculous offers” of N48,000 and N54,000, respectively.  According to a TUC representative present at the meeting, while the government did not provide any evidence to support its proposal, unlike organised labour, OPS stated that none of its members earn less than N78,000. The Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre has apprehended a mother and her daughter over their alleged involvement in a romance scam that reportedly defrauded a Malta-based victim of more than N18m.

The Osun State Police Command announced that it had detained Mr. Adeniyi Talabi, a manager at one of the branches of a first-generation bank in Osogbo, on suspicion of stealing N650 million from 35 of the bank’s clients.  According to a statement made by the command’s spokesman, Yemisi Opalola, the suspect committed the fraud by deceiving the victims into giving up the money and then stealing it through an illicit transaction known as proof of funds.
