The Kaduna State House of Assembly has suggested that the state’s immediate former governor, Nasir el-Rufai, be prosecuted for suspected abuse of authority and money laundering during his administration. This followed the inquiry by the House’s ad hoc committee, directed by Henry Zacharia. According to the report provided by Zacharia on Wednesday, the majority of loans received during El-Rufai government were not used for their original purpose, and in some cases, proper process was not followed in getting them. Ademola Olajire, Director of Communications for the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), stated on Tuesday that the Super Eagles players who were stranded in Lagos and Abuja had arrived in Uyo, the capital of Akwa Ibom.  According to reports, several Super Eagles players were unable to join the rest of the team in camp due to the joint NLC/TUC strike. The National Union of Electricity Employees reported that the national grid had been restored after the Nigerian Labour Congress and Trade Union Congress terminated their strike.  Adebiyi Adeyeye, the NUEE National President, confirmed this to newsmen in an interview on Tuesday. “The strike has been suspended, which means the grid has come back to normal. President Bola Tinubu has named the Arterial Road N20 in Abuja, which connects the Northern Parkway and the Outer Northern expressway, after writer and Nobel Laureate Wole Soyinka.  According to reports, the highway’s name was chosen based on the advice of the Federal Capital Territory Administration, which is overseen by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike. Sen. Abdul Ningi, a lawmaker representing the Bauchi North Senatorial District, returned to plenary sessions on Tuesday after a three-month suspension.  The Senate had pardoned and recalled him, effectively ending his ban, which began on March 12, 2024. Last Thursday, Deputy Minority Leader Senator Abba Moro pushed for Ningi’s recall, expressing regret on his behalf and accepting responsibility for his acts. A tanker suspected of carrying liquefied natural gas exploded at the Obiri-Ikwerre flyover on the east-west borders of Port Harcourt in Rivers State, killing two people.  According to eyewitnesses, the incident occurred about 9:25 a.m. when the tanker overturned while attempting to negotiate the bypass at the flyover and burst into flames, smashing a salon car with two occupants inside. This comes a month later, when a fuel-laden tanker exploded along the Eleme axis of the East-West Road, killing five people and destroying over 60 vehicles.
