The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has summoned the former Governor of Rivers State and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, over alleged anti-party activities. Some of the #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protesters were remanded at Kuje Correctional Centre after being charged with treason.  Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja ordered their remand awaiting the hearing and decision on their bail plea, scheduled for September 11, 2024. The Katsina State Government House in Katsina was reportedly gutted by fire on Monday morning.  However, the cause of the inferno was yet to be determined. Alhaji Bashir, a resident who lives near the Government House, told reporters in Katsina that the inferno began at 6 a.m. He said, “I saw a fire service truck rushing in. A French pensioner went on trial on Monday for allegedly allowing several strangers to rape his wife after drugging her, in a case that has horrified the country. No fewer than fifty men, whom he recruited online, are also being tried in the southern city of Avignon alongside the main suspect, a 71-year-old former employee of France’s power utility company, EDF. The Federal Government plans to arraign some of the organisers of the recent hunger protest before the Federal High Court in Abuja today (Monday).  In addition to the six counts filed by Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun, the Federal Government listed a British citizen, Andrew Wynne, aka Andrew Povich, as a defendant. The Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors has asked its members to return to work on Monday (today), following a seven-day nationwide warning strike over the abduction of their colleague, Dr Ganiyat Popoola. Popoola was kidnapped about eight months ago. However, NARD stated that it would examine the Federal Government’s pledge to resolve its demand within the following three weeks. The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced that 21 candidates with fake IJMB results were recommended for 2023 admissions by various institutions. Two brothers in their early 20s have kidnapped and raped a 14-year-old girl in the Erima community in the Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Areas of Rivers State.
