The Rivers State Police Command said its agents had neutralised Nkem ThankGod, a renowned cult leader who allegedly killed four police officers and a couple, among other crimes.  According to police, the 42-year-old murder suspect dubbed 2man, who lived in Ogbologbolo Community, Ahoada West Local Government Area of the state, was also linked to the death of a youth leader. No fewer than 8,034 terrorists were killed by troops of the Nigerian Army and 11,623 arrested during various operations across the country in 2024. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has denied claims that it uncovered $800 million, ₦700 billion in cash, and drugs valued at ₦1 trillion at the residence of Bello El-Rufai. Bello El-Rufai is the eldest son of Nasir El-Rufai, Kaduna State’s immediate past governor. The Nigerian Institute of Animal Science, NIAS, has advised cattle rearers to adopt artificial insemination techniques as a modern, efficient solution to reduce clashes between farmers and herders across the country. Prof. Akin Adesehinwa, NIAS First Vice President, spoke at the start of a 14-day AI program for selected animal scientists at the University of Ibadan, calling for a change away from traditional cow, pig, and sheep production practices and towards AI. Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has promised to end the 21-year power outage at the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Uli Campus in the Ihiala Local Government Area of the state.  Soludo made the pledge during his one-day working visit to the campus, according to a press statement by his press secretary, Christian Aburime, on Wednesday. Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and the pan-Yoruba sociopolitical movement Afenifere have sharply condemned the arrest and detention of human rights lawyer Dele Farotimi by police.  Farotimi, who was seized by police in Ekiti State on Monday and brought to Ado Ekiti for arraignment, is accused of character defamation in connection with his book “Nigeria and its Criminal Justice System.”. In the book, Farotimi claimed, among other things, that eminent lawyer Aare Afe Babalola (SAN) had compromised the Supreme Court. DIG Hashimu Argungu (retd.), Chairman of the Police Service Commission (PSC), has warned that any candidate caught attempting to bribe or compromise the ongoing admission process into the Police Academy, Wudil, Kano, will be immediately disqualified.  The warning was issued during a supervisory visit to the academy, where he led a high-powered delegation to oversee the 2024 Post-JAMB admission screening process.
