Nigerian politician and activist Aisha Yesufu has berated in strong terms the Nigerian Senate, describing senators as a “bunch of clowns.” Yesufu made the remarks in a video clip posted on her verified X handle on Monday. A social media influencer, simply identified as Hidima, has condemned the notion that Igbos are marginalized politically and economically in Nigeria. Nigerian activist and former aide to ex-president Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri, has been described as one with a “spiritual problem.” In a statement on X on Sunday, an X user simply identified as Zuminwa (@Zuminwa) called for the caging of the social media influencer, alleging that he “uses social media to hunt and disturb” people. Bashir El-Rufai, the son of former Kaduna Governor Nasir El-Rufai, has slammed Governor Uba Sani for accusing his father of plunging the state into debt.  Sani previously stated on Saturday that the El-Rufai administration left the state with a massive financial burden of $587 million, N85 billion, and 115 contractual responsibilities. According to the governor, the state is now struggling to pay salaries as a result of the debt being withdrawn from the Federal Account Allocation Committee (FAAC). The Ondo State Police Command announced on Saturday that it has commenced operations, in partnership with the Nigerian Army, to apprehend a soldier who reportedly killed a businessman in Akure, the state capital.  According to reports, the unidentified military personnel stabbed the seller to death in Akure’s famous Arakale Market on Saturday after a disagreement between them. The incident reportedly sparked a protest by the other traders at the market, but the situation was quickly resolved by men from the state police command. The President Bola Tinubu-led federal government has suffered severe criticism from Nigerians over the payment of a N90 billion subsidy for intending Hajj pilgrims.  Chronicle NG reports that the federal government has released a sum of N90 billion to subsidize the 2024 pilgrimage to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
