The police in Akwa Ibom have arrested a man, Akaninyene Sunday Okokon, for allegedly killing his 16-year-old daughter, Abasiono, for using his sim card to call her boyfriend. Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed yesterday charged residents of the state to “take up arms and defend” themselves against bandits. “You are known to be warriors. You should not allow bad elements to subdue you; defend your land and liberate yourselves,” Mohammed said during his condolence visit to Duguri, Alkaleri Local Government Area where bandits killed 20 people in Rimi Village recently. The Kano Road and Traffic Agency (KAROTA) arrested 3,245 offenders for various traffic offences between January to December, 2022. In a statement by the Public Relations Officer of the Agency, Nabilusi Abubakar, on Friday, he said the number of offenders reduced in 2022, compared to previous year when KAROTA recorded 7,835 offenders. Ten vehicles worth several millions of naira, impounded by the disbanded Traffic and Indiscipline Management Agency of Abia State (TIMAAS), and parked at its yard at the premises of the Abia State Meteorological Complex, Umukalika, Aba have been destroyed by fire.
