Gospel minister, Nathaniel Bassey has petitioned the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, over allegations that he fathered Mercy Chinwo’s son. Bassey urged the IGP to investigate and prosecute four persons whom he accused of criminal defamation and cyberstalking. The singer submitted the petition on April 1, 2024, through his lawyers, Peter Abraham, Uche Matthew, Gbenga Agunloye, and Anthony Abia. The Trade Union Congress (TUC) has stated that no Nigerian enjoys 20 hours of electricity supply per day, noting that the new electricity tariff hike is unacceptable. TUC’s deputy president, Tommy Etim, disclosed this in his statement on Wednesday. The Bola Tinubu administration is set to increase electricity tarrif by 300 percent to reduce government spending since it can no longer afford the huge amount it pays to subsidise electricity yearly. A report by Bloomberg on Tuesday disclosed that electricity companies in Nigeria will soon have the government’s say-so to hike tariffs from N68 per kilowatt-hour to N200 per kilowatt-hour for urban consumers in April. The Ondo State Police Command said it had not arrested anyone over the looting of a food truck reportedly conveying some items suspected to be palliatives along the Ondo-Akure Expressway.
