A cluster of earthquakes struck the island republic of Taiwan early Tuesday, the strongest having a magnitude of 6.1, U S Geological Survey reported. There were no reports of casualties in the quakes, although there were further damages to two multi-story buildings that had been evacuated following a magnitude 7.4 quake that hit the island earlier this month, killing 13 people and injuring over 1,000. The embattled immediate past Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, said he was ready to appear before the Federal High Court in Abuja to answer the 19-count charge the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, preferred against him. The UEFA Football Board has stated that VAR needs to become more “consistent, transparent, and understandable” for players, fans, and coaches. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Kaduna Zonal Command, has arrested six suspected internet fraudsters in Kaduna State. The alleged fraudsters were arrested on Saturday at Bafra Hotel, Alkali Road, Kaduna, following actionable intelligence about their suspected involvement in internet-related offences. The commission disclosed that “items recovered from them include six mobile phones and incriminating documents.” “As soon as the investigations are complete, they will face charges in court, the commission added.

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has called on the Federal Government to merge the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), with the police for effectiveness. The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) disclosed on Sunday that some of its accredited officials have been penalised for preventing a hijab-wearing female UTME candidate from entering the exam hall with her head scarf.
