Gunmen attacked the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) Kuje Medium Security Custodial Centre, Abuja with explosives on Tuesday night. Sources say that the gunmen attacked the prison with intentions of freeing some inmates in detention. According to the NCoS public relations officer, Abubakar Umar, confirmed this in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja. At least two persons were injured after bandits attacked the convoy of President Muhammadu Buhari in his home state of Katsina. The convoy of cars carrying the advance team of security guards, as well as protocol and media officers ahead of the President’s trip to Daura for Sallah celebration came under attack near Dutsinma in Katsina. The Secretary-General of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), Mohammad Sanusi Barkindo, has died. Barkindo died on Tuesday evening, according to the Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Mele Kyari. “We lost our esteemed Dr Muhammad Sanusi Barkindo,” the NNPC boss said in a tweet on his account. “He died at about 11pm yesterday 5th July 2022.
