Ozor IKenna and Ogbo Emmanuel Obiora, have been convicted by a Lagos Federal High Court, for laundering the sum of $196, 883.740 USD and $162, 883.740 million, said to be money to be proceeds of illicit drug. The two men, were convicted and sentenced to a total of seven years imprisonment each, by Justice Ayokunle Faji. Vice President Yemi Osinbajo departed Abuja, Nigeria’s capital on Sunday on a first high-level visit to Canada since 2000 when then President Olusegun Obasanjo visited the North American nation. The visit will deepen diplomatic ties between Nigeria and Canada as Prof. Osinbajo will meet the Canadian Deputy Prime Minister, Chrystia Freeland, other top parliamentarians and members of the Canadian government in Ottawa tomorrow. Five people were killed and 18 injured in a shooting at a gay nightclub on Saturday night in Colorado Springs, Colorado, police said. A suspect was in custody and was being treated for injuries after the attack at Club Q, Colorado Springs Lieutenant Pamela Castro told a news conference. Al Qaeda’s regional branch urged Muslims around the world to shun the soccer World Cup in Qatar, though it stopped short of threatening attacks or promoting violence in connection with the event, according to a statement reported by a monitoring group. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has revised Nigeria’s 2022 real GDP growth forecast down to 3% from 3.4% earlier, citing weak oil production and the adverse effects of recent flooding. Nigeria is currently battling to halt crude theft and insecurity in its oil producing regions which has slashed oil output and government revenues. The country is also trying to stabilise its ailing currency , curb surging inflation and boost growth. “Output growth is expected to moderate in 2022 to 3% and improve slightly next year,” the IMF said in a statement.
