Obasa commends colleagues for their sacrifice The Lagos State House of Assembly on Monday passed ₦1,768,014,155,285 as the budget for 2023 as Speaker, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, thanked the lawmakers for their collective sacrifice and the swiftness with which the Appropriation Bill was handled. A breakdown of the approved budget size shows the sum of N748,096,508,571 as Recurrent expenditure and N1,019,917,646,713 as Capital expenditure for the year ending 31st December, 2023. Senate President Ahmad Lawan on Monday urged Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna state to prevail on his governor colleagues to encourage their respective State Houses of Assembly to transmit back to the National Assembly their responses on the bills sent to them on constitution amendment. The National Assembly in March passed 44 Bills to amend some key provisions of the 1999 constitution and transmitted same to the 36 states for their endorsement or otherwise as part of the constitutional amendment process. Niger govt reveals terrorists yet to make contact after attack

Thousands of people including women, children and the aged have equally begun to flee their homes following deadly attacks by armed bandits in many villages in the LGA. The villages are around the newly discovered oil field in Alkaleri LGA. Gunmen in the early hours of Monday attacked the Owerri office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The gunmen torched the electoral office with a firebomb that destroyed some parts of the building. Confirming the incident, Imo State Police Public Relations Officer, Mike Abbatam, said three gunmen were killed while two firebombs were recovered from the scene.
