Former governor of Gombe State, Ibrahim Dankwambo has won the Gombe North Senatorial District election, defeating the incumbent Sen. Saidu Alkali of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Dankwambo, a two time governor of the state, contested the election on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Peter Obi, the Labour Party presidential candidate has won Lagos state presidential polls beating two-time former Lagos governor and presidential candidate of All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu. With results from Alimosho, Ojo and Mushin announced Monday morning, Peter Obi won with 40,771. Labour Party garnered a total of 582,454 while APC polled 572,606. Jimoh Ibrahim, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Ondo South Senatorial seat emerged as the winner of Saturday’s general election. Abba Ganduje, an All Progressives Congress candidate contested to represent Dawakin Tofa/Tofa/Rimingado Federal Constituency in the National Assembly. Lagos State Police Command says 23 persons suspected to be involved in electoral violence and other crimes were arrested during the presidential and national assembly elections on Saturday in Lagos. Police spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin on Sunday confirmed the arrest to Nigeria’s new agency, NAN.
