A magnitude 5.7 earthquake shook the Philippine capital Manila on Tuesday, the US Geological Survey said, sending people rushing out of buildings and briefly halting train services in the city. A chief magistrates’ court in Ikeja on Monday ordered the remand of a 35-year-old man, Idowu Shoyede, who allegedly defiled his neighbour’s 16-year-old daughter. The police charged Mr Shoyede, of Oredola Street, Iju Ishaga, Lagos, with defilement. The magistrate, E. The Nigerian Air Force has denied claims that residents were killed inadvertently during an air attack in Kaduna.
