The Kabusa Grade 1 Area Court in Abuja on Friday ordered the remand of a tenant, Chris Okoye, 44, for beating his landlord. The judge, Abubakar Sadiq, ordered Mr Okoye’s remand after listening to his plea. The defendant, who lives at 2A Niger avenue villa nova, Apo, is charged with criminal conspiracy, intimidation, force, assault and causing hurt. Two Nigerian policemen have been arrested in connection with a string of armed robberies in Lagos and Ogun States, the Nigeria Police, Zone 2 Command Headquarters said. The policemen identified as Inspector Sunday Adetoye (No. 279495) and Inspector Ogunleye Stephen (No. 223521) with their gang robbed residents in Obada-Oko in Ogun State before they were caught. Another policeman who was also involved in the robbery, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Ajayi Victor, is at large. A new Commissioner of Police, Bzigu Kwazhi, has been posted to Osun State to replace CP Isyaku Mohammed. Mohammed had assumed office in the state on November 10, 2023. Veteran Yoruba actor Deji Akinremi, popularly known as “Olofa Ina”, has died aged 73. Nollywood actor Saidi Balogun took to his Instagram page, @saidibalogun, to disclose the death of the veteran actor on Thursday. Balogun, with the display of the deceased’s photo, wrote, “Good night Legend Chief Deji Akinremi (Olofa Ina) RIP.” Akinremi was born May 15, 1950. An unidentified soldier has blasted Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for arresting his comrade and three other motorcyclists for driving against traffic on the Lagos-Badagry Expressway. The soldier, who appeared to be defending his comrade in a viral video on Thursday, chastised Sanwo-Olu for calling a soldier ‘useless’ in the sight of ‘bastard civilians’. The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) stated on Thursday that its members have no plans to raise fuel prices. Okanlawon Olanrewaju, IPMAN’s Public Relations Officer, said this in an interview with Channels Television, advising Nigerians against frantic purchase of fuel.
